My Top 20 Songs of 2009

1) Automatic by Tokio Hotel

This totally comes in #1 because well, it's one of my favorite songs EVER and it was released this year. It never ever fails to make me smile and I can never ever get sick of it though I must have listened to it about a million times. I also love the electronic thing they've got going. It suits them a lot! Plus Bill's accent is adorable - his Rs.

The song itself is about a girl who has no real emotions or feelings but she acts like a robot and everything she does is 'Automatic'

Lyric: "There's no real love in you; Why do I keep loving you?"

1) No Boundaries by Adam Lambert

Well, this is another song I must have listened to like a million times and still can't get sick of. So it's tied with Automatic at #1. LOVE the words and the meaning - I don't care how the whole world thinks the words are trash, I like it and when Adam sings - flawlessly, btw - you've got to believe him when he says "There are no boundaries" because he proves that - vocally - for him, there are no boundaries

3) World Behind My Wall by Tokio Hotel

I could totally listen to this forever and could fall asleep listening to it which, in my opinion, makes any song qualify as wonderful. It's just sooo soothing and I LOVE the meaning too.

The song is about the boys' sheltered lives and also about their desire to see what else is out there, what else they haven't experienced so far. Which is the same for me... :)

Lyric: "They're telling me it's beautiful; I believe them but will I ever know the world behind my wall?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J28dgghavqs

4) Use Somebody by Sam

I love the original one - by Kings of Leon - but that was in late 2008 so I'm going to stick with this one from TNL Onstage this year. In both versions, you can totally feel their pain and while I can't relate to the song, I just feel for them.

The song is how a guy has finally fallen in love after just messing around for a long time and now he just wants the girl to like him

"You know that I could use somebody: Someone like you and all you know and how you speak"

5) Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship ft. Leighton Meester

I don't even know why I like this so much. Maybe because of Gabe Saporta... I also like the whole 'I make them good girls go bad' thing. Getting sick of being good all the time (mmm) and I wanna go crazy sometimes...! And someone like Gabe would be awesome to help me have some totally innocent fun - probably throw some water balloons at people

Lyric: "I know your type - yeah daddy's little girl. Just take a bite, let me shake up your world. Cuz just one night couldn't be so wrong. I'm going to make you lose control. She was so shy 'til I drove her wild."

6) Star Strukk by 3oh!3 ft. Katy Perry

I don't know what this song means - and I don't care. I just luuurve the verses. You know, the 'woohoo' part. Just those two verses. And the video is amazing as well when the two guys are in their black suits. The verses are just sooo addictive!! LOVE Sean Foreman's voice! Soo energetic and soo sexyy!

7) Time For Miracles by Adam Lambert

The song is soo powerful and soo calming... You can totally feel his emotion and while I can't *quite* get how this song connects to 2012, I think it's how he's saying that they'll need a miracle to get out together while they still love one another. It makes more sense if you look at it in a relationship-wise kinda...thingy (wow I am eloquent)

I love it when he says "This aching heart ain't broken yet"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toR6e061hWY

8) The Climb by Joe McElderry

I used to hate the song until I heard Joe sing it. Fine, Miley's version has more range but it's more believable when Joe sings it because he truly exemplifies the meaning of the song. I always LOVED the lyrics and when Joe sang it, his voice finally made the song work... The meaning is similar to No Boundaries.

9) For Your Entertainment by Adam Lambert

Okay, wow... This song is just too Adam for words. Super controversial and the best song ever that you can just let loose and dance too but with no one watching. Also you can just scream the words out at the top of your lungs.

Lyric: "Close your eyes, not your mind, let me into your soul. I'mma work it till you're totally blown"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSlWzvkJO9g

10) Sleepwalker by Adam Lambert

I don't really like the meaning. I mean, come on. Can anyone imagine ADAM LAMBERT pining for the love of another? No, I didn't think so. However, he does a great job in conveying his emotion (as always). Again, another song I can fall asleep listening to...

Love the phrase: "I keep running into walls that I can't break down"

This song is about how he can't believe his girl/guy left him and that their love has changed him so much. And now he's just going through the motions, like a sleepwalker without actually paying any attention to what he's doing

11) Two Is Better Than One by Boys Like Girls ft. Taylor Swift

All I can say is wow, Martin Johnson's voice is sooo...awesome? No it's sexy...lol I think that's the reason I love this song (and the band too). And Taylor's really good in this as well. In fact the whole song is reeally nice. Obviously, or it wouldn't have made my top 20...

Lyric: "I remember what you wore on the first day; You came into my life and I thought hey, you know, this could be something"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mXK9psBITw

12) Human Connect To Human by Tokio Hotel

Well I just luuurve to sing along with this because the lyrics are easy to sing along to and it's got a nice beat that you can just nod along to. The meaning's kinda difficult to pinpoint since BOTH Bill and Tom wrote it. If Bill wrote it himself, then it's obviously about two people connecting emotionally. If Tom wrote it, it's obviously about doing it and bondage (hit me??) But all in all, I love the song

Lyric: "How can I connect to you?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zol-v4bMjrM&feature=related

13) Toxic Valentine by All Time Low

This song holds some sort of weird attraction for me. I find myself writing the lyrics in my VB Code Window during Computing pracs. It's just got this 'edge' to it that's cool. It's about this dangerous girl but I don't really care about the meanings of songs which makes me rather shallow I guess but who cares??

Lyric: "Her heart beat's red wine; she lays her halo on the pillow where she sleeps at night"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLnj7_8bF3c

14) Hey You by Tokio Hotel

Another song that puts me in an edgy mood. It's to the same beat (and tune?) as We Will Rock You. The song is about how you don't have to care about being different, just come out because the time has come for you to be yourself.

Lyric: "All that you've got - Just let it out. Ready or not - Just turn it up, louder"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-YATY0dTr8&feature=related

15) The Dark Side Of The Sun by Tokio Hotel

I think it's about how technology is coming so fast on top of us that some people are just left in the dark but one day it is these people who will one day rise. I dunno but that's what it sounds like to me. I just love the song because you can totally sing along to it. Most of the songs on my list are songs which make me smiiile...

Lyric: "Will you follow me into the night? They're not gonna get us; We'll be alright and one day the dark side will shine for us."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKpuurfWiGY

16) Feeling Good by Adam Lambert

I realize that it's sort of unfair to name him as the artist but I just LOVE this song so much. He's just basically saying how the birds, the sun, flowers must know how he feels because he feels good. The best part is how the tune totally doesn't go with the meaning because the song is really mysterious and creepy. It has an eeriness to it that is just too Adam for words. And his vocals are f.l.a.w.l.e.s.s. Some people might not like him screaming but it's Adam!

Lyric: "Birds flying high - you know how I feel. Sun in the sky - you know how I feel. Reeds drifting on by - you know how I feel. It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me and I'm feeling good."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JkE7JJmzKg

17) Heartless by The Fray

I luuurve this song!! And the video is sooo cute. I liked the Kanye West version to begin with but I hate that firetruck-ed up jerk. Then I liked Kris Allen's version just as much as this but I decided to put this one up cuz the video is just the cutest. And this version brings out the emotion of the song more than the other ones.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq8JtT78DzQ

18) Turn Right by The Jonas Brothers

Never thought a JB song would end up here but it is a top 20 and I'm running out of stuff. Well this song is one of the nicer Jonas Brothers' songs. It's such an 'easy-listening' song and it can easily put you to sleep but their whiny voices get annoying sometimes... The song is about a girl who's taking a completely wrong path in life and she's driven all her friends out and he's saying all she has to do is turn right - right into his arms and that she won't be alone

Lyric: "You're driving all your friends out - to a speed you cannot follow and soon you will be on your own"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRI6PX-1C3k

19) Party In The USA by Miley Cyrus

I know, I can't believe she made my top 20 either but there's something about this song. It's just so cheerful. There's not much to say about it other than it's cheerful/happy etc. etc.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M11SvDtPBhA

20) One Time by Justin Bieber

He's just so cute but the lyrics are way too 'shawty'-like for a fifteen year old boy. I don't like the meaning of the song because it's sung by a small kid who obviously can't know what love is. The lyrics would probably suit Chris Brown or someone but if he had sung it, I wouldn't have liked it as much.

! ! ! !

Wow...
That's all I can say...W.O.W
lol

Lucky's B'day party - and other things

So I just logged in so I could write something about last Sunday and then I saw what Juleh had written on his blog and it truly amazes me that he doesn't know how much we miss him. He doesn't realize that if he was here (and not 'there') we wouldn't have had to wait until Lucky's birthday party came along. We were counting the days until he came so we could go with him.
I'm guessing now that he would have been surprised to hear how much Lyceum students started hating Oakridge and it's screwed-up holiday plan when we heard that he wouldn't be coming. After he went, everyone kind of drifted apart and all...

We still miss him and his crazy jokes and sarcasm.
On Lucky's birthday party, Atheeq brought up "Jimmy..." and we all went Ajaa...!

Literature with Ms. Jamna

Okay so me and Juleh were commenting on the Joker's advice thingy and I just remembered a lot of stuff that used to happen during 'Literature With Ms Jamna' (*drumroll*)

+ The time Julian got punished for not bringing his past papers and she made him kneel down in front of the whole class ;)
+ 'Mahara Anuruddhika' - I needn't say more
+ Ashan got zero for 'remixing' all his poems - he mixed up Indolence, Psyche, Nightingale etc.
+ JE-wantha, Jeewaka, Maria etc.
+ Julian acting out 'Eve Of St.Agnes'
+ Mihiri and her 'butterflies' and 'beautiful trees' or whatever that she got SO mad at!
+ During the interval on Thursdays and during Physics, copying past paper questions off Julian before Literature
+ Avishka shouting out 'Porphyro's getting FEELINGS' during the part where he's watching Madeline getting ready for bed
+ In 'As You Like It' - Love's Prick (LOL)
+ The time Ash got a dare to put his arms around Nardy and say 'Hey Babyy...' and just when he was doing this, Ms Jamna came in...
+ The time she called Sudeeptha a slut
+ The time she shouted at Duli, calling her a stupid little goat
+ How much she HATED Senura!
+ The time she shouted at Suchi for looking at the time

Okay so I'll probably remember way more later so I'll just add them in then :D

How Much Today Sucked

I didn't think today sucked at all when I was in school but now I'm suddenly all depressed.

Just found out that Woolly isn't coming down this December and all of us were LITERALLY counting down the days, saying 'When Juleh comes down...' and now...UGH!
Gosh Oakridge SUCKS! A limit on holidays? Sheesh!!

And just found out that Karan-dude's a dick. Grr...! Another one. And he was soooo CUTE! Oh so, apparently, with a uni-brow but big deal!!
And this song I'm currently listening to sounds sooo depressing: Two is better than one by Taylor Swift and Boys Like Girls

And just got my Monthly Test marks - Phys: 67, Math: 73, Computing: 85
I hate being in this class - I feel SO out of place that I know what Woolly keeps talking about, being in India and all that. On the outside, it's all 'Yay! We're all SO united!' but I feel like I don't even fit in even though everyone in it is pretty nice individually.
And I feel dumb in this class - everyone's sooo much better than me at everything :(
I'd LOVE to be back in Grade 9 & 10 where the most stressful thing was Literature past paper period on Thursday (Yikes...!)

Well at least Adam's new album rocks ♥ I worried for nothing
And I think Julian was right - I DO have a thing for MOST gay men because I found the AMAs sexaay!
